Gallery suddenly returning 404 error.

    Hi guys,

[FYI – My website is http://williamsimpson.com.au – it’s currently got a coming soon page which can be bypassed through http://williamsimpson.com.au/test ]

    The problem:
My individual photography galleries that were previous working are now showing up with 404 errors. For example: http://williamsimpson.com.au/gallery/usa-july-2016/

The gallery portfolio page is showing the gallery preview there: http://williamsimpson.com.au/gallery/ but galleries aren’t showing when clicked on.

Any thoughts/solutions as to why this might be happening?

    Many thanks,
    Bill

    Hi Bill,
I can not bypass though your URL so I couldn’t check your website. If you getting 404 page, first of all, deactivate all your plugin go to settings > permalinks > choose default to save it then choose post name and save it again.
    Thanks

    Hi Serkan,

Thanks. I’ve removed the coming soon page, so you should hopefully be able to see now.

Okay…I think I’ve worked out what is going on.

For my photography portfolio page, I want the URL to be:
    http://williamsimpson.com.au/gallery/
And then for each gallery to have the same structure. so:
    http://williamsimpson.com.au/gallery/usa-july-2016/

…however, when I have the photography portfolio page permalink as /gallery/, the individual gallery pages return a 404 error. When I change the photography portfolio page url to /photography/, the http://williamsimpson.com.au/gallery/usa-july-2016/ works fine.

So, long story short, is there a way to have both
    http://williamsimpson.com.au/gallery/ as the portfolio page
    and
    http://williamsimpson.com.au/gallery/usa-july-2016/ as an individual gallery?

    Many thanks,
    Bill

    Hi Bill,
Gallery and portfolio are different for the read theme. Please create a page name gallery and go to the menu and add gallery page to your menu.
Add your gallery item to dashboard > gallery > add new gallery item ( images, description, featured images and etc) and save it.
Of course, you can have those URL. Maybe your third party plugin can conflict the theme. Deactivate all your plugin and reset your permalinks and try it again. If you still have any issue, provide me your admin details via our contact form and add this topic URL.
    Cheers
