Hello,

I understood I should not create 2 pages portfolio in order to display one for public and the other one for private (client area protected with password) but rather 1 page portfolio with 2 departments.

I am not sure and quite confused on the steps. I referred to the documentation but this wasn’t clear enough :(

Could you please let me know the steps on how to proceed and which box got to be ticked?
I tried to find documentation on youtube but did not succeed!

Hi Fabcoh1981,
You can create two main departments. (portfolio and client)
Portfolio is your main department. You can set your public photos under portfolio department. Then set your private photos under client department. And choose them as password protected. You can add client department to menu or you don’t need to. It is up to you. And you can add portfolio department link to your menu as your portfolio page.

Thanks Serkan, I have already read that part in another topic. Yet, i need assistance.

I know how to create a page and how to create department but I am not sure how to create a main department (which box needs to be ticked?)
How to set public photos under this department? (where is the option?)

I created a department but it doesn’t appear in the list of pages i got available to add in the menu.

Could you please give the actions in the right order (and where this is to be found?)

Hi Fabcoh1981,
Main Department pictures come from the first sub department. You can set up feature image for the sub-departments on the right hand corner. Dashboard > Portfolio > Departments > You can create parent department here.

Hello Serkan,

I ve been dealing with this issue for the last couple of days :(
To remind you, i wish to have 2 pages/entry to access pictures (client area and portfolio)

Client area: displaying 1 folder by client (with password)
Portfolio: displaying several folders: Wedding/Portrait/Children… (public)

Client area & Portfolio should be 2 separates entry in the menu.

Now… I have 1 page already created named: Portfolio and displaying sub folders: wedding/children/portrait.

I guess i have to delete it if I wish to proceed with department and sub department?

I am sorry… but I am totally lost, could you please assist me with the right procedure given the fact that I already have a page using the model “portfolio”..???

Hi there,

I am really blocked and decided to do it all over again. I deleted current portfolio page…

Now, here is what I do:

1. Created 2 main departments (portfolio/department): PORTFOLIO and CLIENT AREA
2. Added new portfolio items (portfolio/add new), named it Wedding, Portrait etc.. I chose “photo gallery 2” and in the box “departments” I linked it with “PORTFOLIO” department
3. Then I wished to have PORTFOLIO (department) in the Menu (apparences/menu). The problem is that under the “portfolio” section There are only the portfolio items (wedding/portraits etc…) NOT the PORTFOLIO and/or CLIENT AREA department

What am I missing??? I am getting crazy :(

Hi,

This may be very basic but I’m not sure how to make a portfolio. I already have a department which is also on my menu, named “other works” and what I want is when you click on this, you will be directed to a page with different pictures like different stories, and when you click on a picture you will be directed to the story or gallery of that series. Is this possible?

Please disregard my previous message in this thread, I have accomplished making the portfolio page :) I just made a new department and the contents I made in Portfolio.

When you check the portfolio > department > you have portfolio and clients department right? I just wanna double check. You assigned some items under the client as well?

Hi Serkan,

Yes these 2 departments were created and appeared correctly in portfolio/dpt

I could not manage to use them both as a separate entry in the menu because I did not see them within the dialog box on the left hand side onto the Menu page.

I went to check the options of the page and the box DEPARTMENT was not ticked… therefore it did not appear !!! :)
