When I share links to my WordPress blog article on social media (esp. Facebook) there is neither an image (thumbnail), nor the title shown. Just the link: http://ein-fremdwoerterbuch.com/2013/05/damals/ I’ve searched several forums and apparently that is linked to the design theme you have.
As a side note:
Yes, I do use the “featured image” option. It perfectly works for the “Read On”-PlugIn at the bottom of each post, but not so for social media (esp. Facebook).
Also, as a disclaimer, as featured images were always shown twice in my articles, I took this advice: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-do-i-stop-the-featured-image-showing-in-post-as-well and deleted that part of the code.I’ve now installed SEO by Yoast to solve this. However, if I use the “featured image” which I still have to do, The image also appears in the blogpost. So when you’re on my main page http://ein-fremdwoerterbuch.com/ you’ll see the “featured image” in the post “DER ALLER-SUPADUPA-HYPER-ÜBERTRIEBEN-BESTE DEUTSCHE”. When you click on the post it’s fine, you can’t see it anymore, which is fine. But you still can see it on the main page. This is a problem esp. when I put a “featured image” of an image that is already in my post. Because of this, the image will appear twice.
Thank you!
I have updated the theme to the latest version and the problem is still not solved…
I have almost the same problem .. Facebook has ceased to index my fetured image when i do share. First index logo image or another post image… ” I put sexy images in featured image and I’ve had more traffic … :D”
I’m improving the sharing functionality for the themes.
One more thing that should be looked at– when I post a blog update, it automatically pushes out links to my connected social media sites that simply say: “(Post Title)- (URL).” However, the link provided directs people to my parent directory on BlueHost (69.195.etc…) instead of my web page (angstrom design.org).
I called BlueHost and the guy helping me said “it looks like it is hard-coded in there, like somepne typed or pasted it into the code.” He also said it looked like it’s coming from the Theme’s part of the pipeline, not theirs. Is it possible the URL’s will start pointing to the correct site after a couple weeks? I have only had it up and running for about 10 days now. If not, please take a look at that functionality as well.
Thanks for monitoring and supporting us! Love the theme!!
Alex
You can try the WP Social SEO Booster plugin during the improving period.
Linked tweets still direct to the parent directory. I will try calling BlueHost again tomorrow.
I’ve downloaded, uploaded, activated & customized the new version.
But as you see, it’s still not solved: Check the post entry “Cornwall – England”, the images are still twice present… http://ein-fremdwoerterbuch.com/page/2/Also, the new update has a bug: When you click on a blogpost, the first line of the text will show up on the top left… example: http://ein-fremdwoerterbuch.com/2013/07/hilfsbereitschaft/
Updated it. The bug is still there.
Example: http://ein-fremdwoerterbuch.com/2013/07/hilfsbereitschaft/
The first sentence is shown on the top left corner of the page.My demo site has the latest version, but there is no issue like in your site. Maybe it is a plugin related issue. Try to deactivate the plugins to see what’s wrong.
I’ve activated and deactivated all my Plug-Ins and checked it. The bug’s still there. And here in this forum I’ve found a few other ppl w/ the same issue and check their blogs/websites.
Also, the other issue w/ the featured image showing up in the post hasn’t been solved yet either. But overall, thanks for caring!
Fixed. New version will be available tomorrow.
– Sorry, I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking about featured image?
Thank you!!
To the 2nd question: Ok, this post http://ein-fremdwoerterbuch.com/2013/04/der-aller-supadupa-hyper-ubertrieben-beste-deutsche/ does normally only have a video and text as content. In order to have an image to be seen when I share this link elsewhere, I need to create a “featured image”. So, I took a screenshot of the video and chose this as the “featured image”. However, this image is not supposed to appear in the post itself, which is does.
Paste to Theme Options > Style > Custom CSS:
.single-post .featured-image { display: none; }– New version is available.
It doesn’t work… still… E.g. the last post I’ve put on my blog isn’t supposed to have a picture. I have put this “featured image” in this post because it doesn’t show any picture of the video when I share it on social networks (with other wp designs it shows them automatically).
So: I am using “featured image” not to show in the post, but to use in social networks. If there is any other solution to that, I’d be happy. But the code doesn’t work.Just solved it myself by using this code:
.post .featured-image {display: none;}
Hi, when people share my posts code appears in the description of the shared content. How can I fix? http://www.jzachpearson.com
Hi jzachpearson,
Please deactivate all your plugin and try it again. If you still have the same problem, try to use another share plugin.
Thanksi’ve tried a few different plugins and it still shows the code. i originally was using publicize on wordpress. the share icon on the top right of the content posts was part of the theme i believe. not sure why the code is showing up… any other suggestions?
