compact image size options not working for photo gallery

Load times for my galleries are very slow using the Photo Gallery and Photo Gallery 2 portfolio types. I’ve tried going into gallery settings and setting “Link To” to “Media File” and “Size” to “medium”, but the gallery still loads the full size images rather than the compact versions. This appears to be a bug in those two portfolio types.

Here’s a screenshot from the developers console for a portfolio using the “Standard” gallery type:

Notice that the src is pointing to the medium photo (240×300) created by WP. This is the expected behavior.

Here’s a screenshot of that same page using the “Photo Gallery” portfolio type:

Notice that it is using the original full size image as the thumbnail which results in REALLY slow load times.

    Hi adamhajari,
Actually it is not original full size image as the thumbnail. When you choose photogallery type thumbnail image are resized to about 500px height to make them look crisp on high res screens.
    Thanks.

When I say “full size”, I mean full file size. I understand that the photos get resized in terms of their dimensions, but the page is still loading the original photo, which in many cases are very large files. You can see that that is the case in the developer console of the screenshot that I provided before.

Here is another screenshot of the dev console showing that the photo sizes are, indeed, very large and that the load time exceeds 25s:

Here’s the site I’m using if you’d like to test for yourself: http://ali-heller.com

Hi, i see, actually we had fixed this issue with v1.2 and i see you are using the latest version, but if you have created your galleries before v1.2, you need to install Regenerate Thumbnails plugin and run once, and your images should be optimized then.
