Homepage doesn't work – It is empty

I installed the theme, the plugin(s) and imported the sample data. The Homepage only shows the name of the page in the upper left and nothing more. What have I done wrong? Documentation is not great on this point.

Hi,
Go to: Settings > Reading. Select “Home” page as a front page, and select “blog” page as a posts page.
Go to: Appearance > Widgets. Use Empathy widgets to show pages in you front page, see widgets section

Go to pages > Edit homepage and set the featured image on the right side.

You can upload xml file and easily edit it for homepage.
