Portfolio images gone with https

    Hi,

With my new let’s encrypt certificate, I can’t use it since my portfolio images don’t show up.

I sent this issue to Dreamhost support and its something to do with the urls. They said, “…The reason why the images are not showing is because they are being linked via HTTP and not HTTPS. These images were probably added with absolute URLsee if they offer an SSL option or one where they can use relative URLS” for the creation of portfolio images.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi jasondmacleod,
Could you try to install and run one of these plugins please?
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-https/
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-force-ssl/
    Also you can check out this related url;

    Thanks

Hi, thanks for the quick reply, but you misunderstood my issue.

To reiterate, when I add https to my site, the portfolio images disappear. So, even though I have a certificate and can encrypt traffic, when I do so, the portfolio page of my site only displays text – no images.

I’m looking for help on how to fix this issue. Dreamhost came up with one idea noted above.

    Thanks!!!

Hi, go to settings > general, and update your wordpress and site urls to https.

    Thanks

Hi, that also didn’t work. I’m now trying to re-upload my images with https enables and see what that does. I’ll report back! Thanks!

    Ok, good luck.

Hi, that was the issue. The portfolio was calling images that i uploaded prior to encrypting my site. I think deleting and re-uploading the images were unnecessary. Adding “s” to “http” might have solved the issue (after following the steps you noted above).

    Thanks!

WordPress uses full url for images to access file, not a relative path. So the http and https are different ways.
