Problems with Importing Demo Data

I am trying to install the demo data for Empathy by reading the documentation but got stuck on the part where I have to install the WordPress Importer plugin, browse to the package folder, select XML data file and upload it.

I keep getting an error message saying the file format is wrong.

Might I have installed the wrong plugin? The one I have installed is the WP Importer

And where is the xml file I am supposed to upload? There are some in the Sample Data folder but none of these seem to work when I try to import them.

Hi, You should use this plugin.
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-importer/
Please go to empathy package > sample data > all > upload that xml file.
    Thanks

I installed that WordPress Importer plug in but I can’t see where I can actually use it as it doesn’t appear on the left hand panel.

Hi, Go to: Settings > Reading. Select “Home” page as a front page, and select “blog” page as a posts page.
Please go to appearance > widgets > empathy template page and drag and drop the widget for blog.

I see. Can you also tell me:

    1) Where can I upload the full size background image on the home page?
    2) Why isn’t my menu showing up on the left hand side?

    Hi Boris,
I could not review your website. I think you’re having a problem with your hosting server. I would recommend you to check the documentation in the theme folder. You need to set up the empathy widgets.
    Thanks

Having issues with the front page- it has some extra scroll downward and the photo cuts off the bottom portion on load. Also I am missing the back to blog menu icon & link when in the blog section.

    Hi Boris,
You don’t have ant extra scroll issue. The admin toolbar cause the issue but only you will see it. Back to blog is working right now.
    Thanks

Thank you! And in regards to the blog/portfolio grid style. Is there a way for all the posts to line up (row and column). I am noticing that the first column is positioned lower. Also is it possible to have the categories function of the portfolio (top) to work in the blog as well?

    Hi,
It is related to image dimensions. If you upload same dimensions of the featured image, they will display in the same row.
    Thanks

Can the Categories I chose in WordPress be shown in the blog section, just like in the portfolio section template?

Hi, this is not available by default, needs more further customizations, if you are not familiar to coding you may consider hiring an expert at wpkraken.io to do the job for you.
