Can't import sample data

I tried installing the “One Click Demo Import” plugin recommended with the theme, but I get a parse error when activating:

“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in …/wp-content/plugins/one-click-demo-import/one-click-demo-import.php on line 41”

So I tried to import it manually and I can see the data has been added, but the site doesn’t display any of it…please advise!

Just to be clear, I have already attempted to import manually and receive a number of errors (nowhere here for me to attach a screenshot). Either way, I have examined documentation and the theme is not functioning…

    Hi supernovangirl,
If you provide me your wp admin details via our contact form, I will try to check what is going on your side. Btw please add this topic url as well.
    Thanks

Serkan, I sent you the info via form a few hours ago – let me know if you didn’t receive. Thanks!

    Hi,
Please check out your related url. I just imported the dummy data.
    Thanks

Thanks, Serkan. May I ask why it wasn’t working before?

How do I turn the video background off on the homepage? I can’t find anything in the documentation or settings about that…

Also sorry – but where did you put all of my old content?

    Hi,
Please go to appearance > widgets > empathy template page > edit homepage and remove the video url and save it.
If you put an image to your homepage, please edit the homepage and add a featured area.
Your server did not allow me to install this plugin due to some reason, so I uploaded it manually. I did not touch any of your files. I just turned the portfolio items into the draft file. You can go to Portfolio and turn the draft items into publications. There was not any post etc when I entered. So I did not delete any files or old content.
    Thanks
