Hi I am facing issue when I try to install “I Recommend This” plugin. It shows me this error “Something went wrong with the plugin API.”. I tried installing manually but at the top it was still showing this plugin as recommended. So please help me. Thank you.

    Hi,
If you installed it properly, you can ignore that message.

I get the same error when I try to install it from Appearance > Install theme plugins.

How do I install it manually? It doesn’t appear in the WordPress Plugins library. I’ve been to the Github site, but I’m not sure how to do it from there.

    Hi Chris,
I marked the tab where you will download the plugin with a red arrow. After downloading the zip file, you can upload the zip file by going to your plugin tab and clicking the “upload plugin” button at the top.

Looking at this plugin a bit more closely, I’m not sure you should recommend it. It hasn’t been updated in about five years, and it was closed for review in July in the WordPress plugins library:

Do you know of any other, lightweight, plugins that do the same thing? (Most of the ones I could find seem bloated or unsupported.)

Hi, We have continued to use this as the plugin has been working fine so far. Based on your suggestion, we will start researching alternative plugins. You can also do your own research and test the plugins.
    Thanks
