Multiple-line captions not displaying correctly

    Hi,

    Only the first line of the captions is displayed properly. When the caption is longer than what fits in a single line, part of the second line cannot be seen – well, it overlaps the available screen size and the visitor has to scroll down.

    Is there anything I can do to automatically adjust the size of the image or the caption to ensure that even longer captions are displayed properly?

    I have not made my site public yet so I cannot share a link but here is a screenshot:

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    We can have a look when you go online. I just tested it on our demo website and multiple line captions display correctly.
    Thanks

    Hi,

    I forgot to mention that I believe this only happens with “Photo Gallery 2”. Could you please test that gallery type and see if you can replicate the problem?

    On a different note, is there a CSS code to modify the font type / size used for these captions either on a per gallery level or overall?

    Thank you!

    So I have realized that the problem is mostly with portrait / vertical images as it wraps the text according to the width of the image.

    For example, open the fourth image (the only vertical one) in this gallery:

    Same problem occurs in mobile view. Could you please check and let me know how this can be corrected?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi, I did the test with several different mobile phones. I haven’t had a problem with the caption according to your report. But in vertical photos caption is broken and is recovering again. This may be a sign of something slowing down the javascript code. Can you try again by installing a cache plugin?
    Thanks

    Hi Serkan,

    1) This error is not only on mobile phones, it’s both on desktop and mobile.

    All vertical photos with longer captions using ‘Photo Gallery 2’ have the second line cut off (mobile & desktop), in any web browser. You must see the same on your computer.

    See how it wraps the text for vertical photos and half of the the second line is cut off – as in it’s there BUT the user has to scroll down to see. Same on mobile.

    I’d like you to open this link and click on the 4 image (girl in black dress holding out her hat) and I am certain you will see it:

    https://andraslens.com/portfolio/travel/

    2) What cache plugin you recommend I install? I am hosted at Bluehost and Normal level of caching is enabled… do I still need a cache plugin above Bluehost’s cache?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,
    Can you use this custom css code;

    .mfp-title { line-height: 18px; }

    If you want to use cache plugin, you can try to use “WP Super Cache” plugin.
    Thanks

    Thanks!

    1) The CSS code works for wrapping captions which are up to 2 lines – which is a nice change but if the caption happens to be longer (like 3 or 4 lines long) then then any lines beyong the 2nd line are displayed outside the screen and one has to scroll down to see it.

    2) I installed WP Super Cache a few days ago and it did the trick. Thanks for the help!

    I got mixed up with the different threads… the cache plugin does NOT help resolve the issue (which you said was Java script related I think?) where the caption first loads vertically then a second later it goes down under the image where it should be.

    Hi,
    This structure is not designed for longer sentence scenarios. Please make sure to use an abbreviation so as not to pass two sentences.
    You can try installing different alternative cache plugins. You can google it.
    Thanks
