Using true italics, not oblique, with Google web font Posted in : Read WP Mark SParticipant 7 June 2013 at 18:31 #6489 Dear Mehmet, I am using the Google web font Vollkorn on my site, but it is not displaying proper italics – just the ‘oblique’ version of the roman font. (See http://www.zubair.info/blog/2010/11/05/css-font-style-oblique-vs-italic.html ) What code do I need to add to use the true italics for this font? Thanks, Mark Mehmet S.Keymaster 8 June 2013 at 21:16 #6514 There is no access to your url. Mark SParticipant 9 June 2013 at 14:10 #6543 Hi Mehmet, Sorry, I don’t understand. Do you mean that I won’t be able to use true italics with Google fonts on my site? (My site is http://www.marksladen.info) Best, Mark Mehmet S.Keymaster 13 June 2013 at 00:09 #6611 Paste to Theme Options > Style > Custom CSS: body { font-style: italic; } DGlassParticipant 22 November 2013 at 16:40 #10244 Hi Mehmet, I’ve just started using your template and I love it. I am however having the same problem, this time with the font Crimson Text. I just need to use the specific italic web font required for italics instead of the artificial “oblique” both i and em seem to be causing. Is there a way to specify a completely different font for italics somehow? Thanks, PB Mehmet S.Keymaster 24 November 2013 at 05:34 #10291 To embed the Crimson Text font collection into your web site: – Use this in your External CSS field: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Crimson+Text:400,400italic,600,600italic,700,700italic"> DGlassParticipant 24 November 2013 at 05:38 #10292 That works perfectly!
