How do I set up a portfolio similar to the demo.?

Right now I’ve created the parent department as one of the navbar tabs.
I’ve created sub departments under the parent department.
I’ve added one portfolio to each sub-department with some shortcode for images.

I don’t see any images when I click the parent department in the navbar. I see the headings for the sub-departments though.

Where do I put the code or photos to get it to display like the demo.

    Thanks!

I have the same issue! Did you find a solution?

    Hi,

    – create a new page,

    – select Portfolio template,

    – add this page to your menu.

    Thanks

    Hi Mehmet,

Do I have to use departments? I want to have the subcategories that filter different categories in the portfolio itself.

Does the demo use the inline lightbox shortcode?

I’m use to working on very basic themes, sorry for all the questions!

    Thanks

Hi, create departments to have filters. The demo site has lightbox_image shortcode for the portfolio lightbox gallery.

    Thanks

So what did I do wrong in my original post? The documentation says you don’t have to have a page with portfolio template( I think) so I didn’t create one.

I have my parent department (photography) in the menu.
Then I have sub departments (street photography and portrait photography).

I am confused as to where to put the short code for the images. Do I put it in a new portfolio and link each portfolio to the subdepartments?

Hi, you are talking about multiple portfolios. Please see the Portfolio and Portfolio Item Types sections.

    Thanks

I’ve been following it but the problem is that when I add portfolio items to the sub-departments, they don’t show up in the subdepartment page or the parent department.

I’ve uploaded the sample data onto the site and it still does not display the portfolio images: http://www.edtse.com/

    Hey,

    – set your Permalink Settings to Post name option.

    – set Featured Images to your portfolio items.

    Thanks

Thank you! That fixed it! I don’t know why it had that setting, maybe it was because this was from my old blog.

Maybe put a note in documentation for future reference.
