Hello,
I recently purchased the Podkest theme, primarily for its advertised compatibility with PowerPress. My website has hundreds of existing podcast posts that rely on PowerPress, and my understanding was that your theme’s audio player would seamlessly replace the default PowerPress player on these posts.
However, I’m facing an issue: I cannot get the theme’s player to appear at all. I have installed and activated all the required plugins and have explored the theme options, but the default PowerPress player remains, and there’s no sign of the new one.
Could you please provide step-by-step instructions on how to configure the theme’s audio player so that it correctly takes over from PowerPress on existing posts?
On a side note, I was disappointed to find very little documentation on this key feature for a podcast-focused theme. I was also sad to note that the theme’s players are just free third-party plugins, which was not made clear in the product page. Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your help.
Hi @andremaajin
Thank you for your detailed message and for choosing the Podkest theme.
The theme is designed to be compatible with PowerPress, but the Podkest player does not automatically override the default PowerPress player. Instead, you need to:
How to use the Podkest player instead of the PowerPress one:
In PowerPress > Settings > Appearance, uncheck the option that outputs the default PowerPress player in your posts (Display Player).
Then, edit your podcast post and make sure you add your audio file (mp3, etc.) using the theme’s audio field (in the Audio Post Format). The Podkest player will appear when the audio file is entered here.
If PowerPress is still injecting its own player, it means it’s forcing the shortcode output. In this case, you’ll need to disable that option inside PowerPress so the theme’s player can render instead.
👉 Here is our documentation

, and you can also compare with the demo site
https://themes.pixelwars.org/podkest/demo-01/
to see how the player is expected to look.At the moment, since you didn’t share your site URL, I can’t confirm if something else (like caching, plugin conflict, or PowerPress settings) is interfering. Could you please share the link to one of your podcast posts? That way we can inspect the front-end and provide precise instructions.
I also want to acknowledge your feedback about documentation and plugin details — thank you, we’ll improve that part for future updates.
Best regards,
SerkanThank you for your response and for the clarification!
I followed your instructions, and I can confirm that adding the episode details to the Seriously Simple Podcasting fields does make the theme’s player appear.
However, this has revealed a significant workflow issue for me. My website has over 600 existing podcast episodes, and all their data (MP3 URLs, cover art, etc.) is managed by PowerPress. Manually copying this information for every post into the SSP fields would be a really big task, and it essentially means I would have to migrate my entire setup away from PowerPress, which has been working really well for me for years.
This leads me to my main question: could you please help me understand how the theme’s “PowerPress compatibility” is intended to work in this scenario? My expectation was that the theme would work in some way with an existing PowerPress installation, and I’m having trouble figuring out how.
Thanks again for your guidance on this.
Hi @andremaajin
Thank you for sharing these details and for clarifying your workflow concerns — that’s very helpful for us to understand.
Since your setup involves more than 600 existing PowerPress episodes, we believe the best way forward is to have our developer review this case directly and advise you on possible solutions. This will ensure you receive accurate, tailored guidance without the risk of disrupting your current library.
I’ve forwarded your feedback and request to our development team, and they will get back to you with the most suitable approach.
Thanks again for your patience and for raising these important points.
Best regards,
SerkanHi, the theme is compatible with several podcast plugins, including PowerPress and Seriously Simple Podcasting and we have demonstrated the Seriously Simple Podcasting plugin and it’s player on our demo site. If you use another podcasting plugin such as PowerPress you have two options;
– You will stick to the new plugin’s default player, since they are different plugins.
– If you want to use the Seriously Simple Podcasting player as seen on our demo site, you can try migrating your podcast post from PowerPress to Seriously Simple Podcasting. Here is some information about the migration:A-) You can use the built-in import from feed option by navigating to Podcasting > Settings > Import and then enter your PowerPress feed url here and start the importing process.
B-) There’s a free plugin called Podcast Importer SecondLine.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/podcast-importer-secondline/
Install it and point it to your PowerPress RSS feed (e.g., https://yourwebsite.com/feed/podcast/ from PowerPress).
Choose Seriously Simple Podcasting as the target.
It will automatically import all your episodes into SSP.
Also here are some posts about migrating PowerPress podcast to SSP;
