Automatically close comments, but still show existing comments?

    I would like to “Automatically close comments on articles older than 90 days”, but when I do, two things happen:

    1. The comments that were on that post disappear.
    2. The “2 Comments” link that sits under the title disappears.

    Is there a way to fix this, so that the existing comments are still readable and the “2 comments” link sill appears (even though I’ve automatically closed the comments)?

    I would also like there to be a note at the bottom of the post that says “Comments are now closed”.
