Is there a way to select what categories show on the homepage?

Can I change order in the top two sections? Move them somehow?

Can I select on sidebar to show articles from specific categories?

Is there a way to generally customize your template, since I can’t edit homepage layout?

Hi,
You can go to appearance > widgets > blog or page featured area > the main slider > you can display your sticky posts here. You just go to posts > choose some of them as a sticky post. But you can not display a specific category in other ways. You can drag and drop for changing the positions. You can also customize their size here.
You can go to appearance > widgets > blog or post sidebar. > drag and drop popular post (top 10) plugin > only from categories > you can achieve specific category.
