If I make a blog post, how can I make it sticky and still have it on the homepage?

Go to: Posts > Add New.
Set featured image.
Edit visibility options to make sticky post. (It is located under publish tab) and check” Stick this post to the front page”

But when I do that, the post doesn’t show up on the front page, like a blog post like the latest post. Does that make sense?
