I seem to be having trouble with some of the post format icons that display above the post.
1. The standard icon (looks like a thumb tac) doesn’t show up at all. (see http://www.brianhammonds.com/2014/01/06/why-i-write-a-quick-note-on-entering-the-blogosphere/)
2. Some of the others (like aside) are actually showing up with a different icon than shows in the page builder (see http://www.brianhammonds.com/2014/01/02/hello-world/). The page builder shows a little page with lines on it, but when it posts, it shows up as this pencil.
3. Is there a way to customize the icons that show up for each post format? Are there more icons available?
4. I’m also wondering if the post type names can be changed. Can “aside” be renamed to something else, for instance?
Hi, you can see the post formats icons in the demo site of Bloggy WP theme. They come from the design. The standard post format has no icon in the design, the others have. The icons in the admin side are the admin style, not related the theme.
Post format names are not theme related. They are a part of WordPress core functionality. But you can search a plugin for that.

Is there a way to add an icon for the standard post with custom css?
So I think my problem with the standard post format is actually more widespread. It’s not just the icons. The only posts being retrieved on my archive page (http://www.brianhammonds.com/archived-notes/recently-archived-notes/) are the standard posts (and nothing else). Meanwhile, the standard posts are still the only ones that don’t show an icon above the post title (even if I edit it as you suggested…it’s just missing completely). Then, I noticed that the archives are also completely missing the standard post format from the “Archives by Format” (http://www.brianhammonds.com/archived-notes/all-archived-notes/). Any idea why this is so glitchy?

Thanks so much! Your support is great! Last question on the post format icons. I think font awesome has a microphone “\f130”, but it doesn’t seem to work. Is there a way that icon could be added?
Bloggy WP theme has v3.x icons.
I still see in 3.2.1 that the microphone is available. Only when I use f130 with css (as was successful with the other post format icons) it doesn’t work. Is there something I’m missing?
It also looks like the “thumbs up” (http://fontawesome.io/3.2.1/icon/thumbs-up/) icon is also not showing up correctly, same as the “microphone” icon issue I posted earlier. Thanks for looking into it.
I checked the links you provided.
– The microphone icon is supported since Font Awesome v3.1
– The thumbs-up icon is supported since Font Awesome v3.2
The theme exactly has Font Awesome v3.0.2. I will update the icons on future updates. But, you can do it manually at this time.

I’m not sure exactly where to go from here, but I suppose if you have a completely different version installed, that would be a problem. When do you plan on updating this on the themes (I’m using Bloggy Theme)
