Hi,
please let me know how to replace “deparment” word in the URL with another. I have http://www.xchaus.com/my-works/ page (portfolio template) that lists all galleries, however then the URL changes to http://www.xchaus.com/department/lifestyle/ instead of http://www.xchaus.com/MY-WORKS/lifestyle/.
Thanks
Rgds,
KonstHi Konst;
Sorry It is not possible by default. You can not move the “departments” word in the url.
ThanksThanks for the answer. Just to be clear – it is not possible to replace “departments” with let’s say “my-works”. The word is hard-coded in the theme?
I saw several websites using photographer theme while reading the forum. Some of them did not have this word in the URL (unless they did not use nested portfolios and I missed this fact).
Hi @TimTaller;
You can change portfolio slug and this topic is related with that issue http://www.pixelwars.org/forums/topic/change-portfolio-slug
But departments are working differently. Maybe you can search an alternative plugin for this but i am not sure that it will work for you.
ThanksOK, I’ll give it the last try (seems like I’m always posting before the second coffee :).
I would like to get a structure like this:
1. http://www.site.com/portfolio/ – shows all “departments” (fashion photography, portraits). This is a “page” with “portfolio” template
2. http://www.site.com/portfolio/portraits/ – shows all “portfolio” that have “portraits” as a “department”
3. http://www.site.com/portfolio/portraits/gallery1 – shows a “portfolio” gallery1This is what I want.
The way it works now is:
1. http://www.site.com/portfolio/ – OK
2. http://www.site.com/department/lifestyle/ – I’d like to replace the word “department” in the URL to “portfolio” – is it possible?
3. http://www.site.com/portfolio/gallery1/ – can I have (www.site.com/portfolio/portraits/gallery1) – this?OK, I managed to achieve (3) by using Custom Post Type Permalinks.
The only part of the question remaining is how to get from http://www.site.com/DEPARTMENT/portraits/ to http://www.site.com/PORTFOLIO/portraits/
the word portfolio in the URL (permalink) has nothing to do with the post type “portfolio” and the question is – is it possible to replace the “department” in the URL to something different, without rewriting the code?
Hi, sorry but it is not possible to have a url structure like this;
– portfolio/department-name
as this will conflict with portfolio single url as it is also in the same form;
– portfolio/portfolio-single-post-name
and wordpress doesn’t allow this kind of url structure.
Have a nice day.
Well… I’m not insisting on the word “portfolio” as I understand it will break the logic of the theme. My point is simple: is it possible to replace the word “department” with a different one or not?
I’m fine it the URL will look like http://www.site.com/works/portraits
Hi @TimTaller;
I see your concern and we will add a new option to change keyword department to anything else you want with the next update. So you can have a chance to change it.
