i read a cpl posts about the slider, but still a bit lost…
your live example on ThemeForest shows posts in the slider that appear to NOT be “sticky”. (at least they don’t display as such.. the posts do not have the thumbtack i cons, and are just in the correct order, not stuck to the top of the homepage.
to me, the slider posts would make sense to just be pulled from something like a “featured” category, so that it can pull the posts from items that are not already “Stuck” at the top of the home page.
hİ jbordersfl,
Slider is located at the top of the page and slider’s structure is suitable with the sticky posts. You can not show the categories in the slider. You can just show the sticky posts in the slider. This is how it works.
Thanks
ok, thanks but i think maybe i didn’t ask this right.
is the ONLY way to get a post in the slider to make it “sticky”? that makes it basically useless, because i’d like to feature 4 or 5 posts in the slider, but who wants those same 5 posts stuck to the top of their homepage, so that users have to scroll down past 5 stories to find the latest post?
this is not how the slider functions on your sample live site.
your sample site has NO sticky posts, yest, there are posts in your slider. how do you do that??
Hi jbordersfl,
Please go to appearance > theme options > main slider > activate exlude sticky posts from blog
So the users won’t see the same posts under slider.
Thanks
ok, yes i did experiment with that and i see that it does work, and it does appear that that’s what happening on your demo site. thanks.
it just would make more sense to me if you could keep a post in its normal, chronological order on the home page, and still have it be featured in the slider. either by tagging, or categorizing the post, rather than making it sticky. just a suggestion maybe you could consider for a future update.
