I would love to style the contact page, add a bit more options and also have it in two columns. Is this possible?

Could you please explain a bit more exact how to change it? Because when you set a page to “contact page” there is no content showing?

Instead of using the built-in template for the contact page, you can use a third-party plugin like Contact Form 7. This will give you a little more control of the contact page without having to modify the core theme file(s).
