How can I get the theme to work properly with WPML? All the pages that need to be translated are ready and in sync. Let’s say the alternative language is English. When I go to http://www.domain.com/en/ the respective cover page doesn’t load (or resume, contact etc. for that matter)

I assumed since the WPML is setup right and the page id’s are mapped properly, the correct page would show when I go to one of the available languages.
