Sudden critical error

    Hello all,

I create this new topic because I’m facing a sudden critical error that appeared on my wordpress website, running under Efor theme.

The last modification I made (only on pages and articles, no widget added or other) were on March 17th and everything was okay. But I’ve been warned on the 24th that my website was not running well. Basically, the home page and contact page are down. For information, both are running with Elementor.

I tried to restore a backup, but it didn’t solve the issue. I have also updated the PHP, which is now 8.1 but it didn’t solve the issue either. I’ve also deactivated the “IconPress Lite” plugin, but nothing has changed.

Do you have any idea of what could have suddenly created this problem ? Could it be coming from a problematic widget/plugin or anything else ? Or an update that is needed ?

Thank you very much in advance for your answers and your support !

    Hi,

We will try to fix it with a theme update in the future.
Now, you can downgrade your WordPress version with a plugin:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-downgrade/

Recommended: Always do yourself the WordPress new major version updates.
Tip: Go to your “Dashboard > Updates” page, and disable automatic updates for new major versions of WordPress. (Switch to automatic updates for security releases only)

Use automatic updates for security releases only

    Hello Serkan !

First of all, thank you very much for your responsive answer, I really appreciate !

I did as you recommended me, i.e. installing the WP downgrade plugin and then choosing and installing the 5.8.4 WordPress version.

Although the downgrade process was done, it did not solve the issue I am facing. My website is still facing a critical error. I really don’t know what to do…

    Hi,
Could you please contact to your hosting company related to the issue?
Have you try to activated the default wordpress theme as well? This situation should be related to your hosting company. When you talk to your hosting company, can you keep me updated?
    Thanks

Hi there, I do have the exact same issue since I updated the theme. There is a fatal error on my page. I downgraded WP but nothing changes. I guess there is an issue with Elementor because when I deactivate it the error disappears but obviously everything created with Elementor is gone as well. Could you please help?

    Hi all !

As suggested by Serkan, I shared my issue with my hosting company, and they answered me today that this critical error was not coming from their service. They also added that it was coming from Worpress.

So, as Judikal mentionned, could that issue be coming from Elementor ? I know that the theme is delivered with a Elementor component, but does that mean that we must purchase an Elementor licence after a year ? Interestingly, this critical error happened one year after the creation of my website and the setup of the Efor theme with Elementor contents…

Thank you in advance for your support…

    Hi,
Please update the theme to the latest version then update the plugins as well. You are still using the old version of the theme.
    Thanks

    Hi Serkan,
I have done that and the same error occurs. I cannot update the Elementor Plugin (JetElements – Addon for Elementor Page Builder). It is recommended for the theme but it won’t update nor can I install a new version.
Could you please take another look since updating the theme did not change anything.
    Thanks!

    Hi @judikal
I just checked your plugins and you are using the latest version of the plugins.
We are updating the bundled JetElements and JetPopup plugin to the latest version with the every update. The individual license key is not provided by the plugin author for the JetElements and JetPopup.
IconPress lite plugin author didn’t release an update so do not use it for a while.
    Thanks

    Hi @serkan !

Sorry for my late answer, I’ve been away for a month, and I was not able to follow your advices quickly.

In accordance with your recommendation, I’ve downloaded the last version of the Efor theme on themeforest. I’ve then uploaded it through the WordPress theme tab.

But unfortunately, it not only it told me that the installation failed (no style.css file) but now my website is completely down, with a critical error message from wordpress.

So I would really be grateful if you could help me on that matter. This issue with my website’s theme is running since end of March and I am losing my mind as nothing as resolved it so far (it even got worse)…

Thank you so much in advance for your support !

    Hi @khofcoach
A theme in a ZIP format can be easily installed via the wp admin. Just go to appearance > themes and upload your theme.
    https://www.pixelwars.org/forums/topic/how-to-update-your-theme/
You can activate envato market plugin then you will able to update your theme easily.
    Please, Keep me updated.

    Hi again @serkan !

Great news, I’ve installed the envato market plugin and I’ve finally been able to update the Efor theme (8.2.2). Thanks for the tip.

However, my website is still down, with the same wordpress critical error message on my homepage.

Should I update my wordpress as well (the 5.8.4 version is currently running) ? Or anything else ?

Thank you serkan for your help on that matter, it’s very much appreciated !

    Hi @khofcoach
I did not see the critical error message. Can you please share a screenshot? You can take a screenshot, upload it anywhere and share the url of that page.
    Thanks

I can’t thank you enough for the support and good advices you gave me serkan. Thank you for the time you spent answering me and providing advices. I really appreciate !

    All the best, cheers !
