BLANK BLOG & BLOG TEMPLATES

Hi guys. So, the theme has a Blog page, but it doesn’t contain any posts. (I loaded the demo data… there are lots of posts, they’re just not on the Blog page… they’re not anywhere, except their individual pages.)

I read the documentation – there’s nothing in there about the Blog page.

So I Googled the problem, and found this: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-a-separate-page-for-blog-posts-in-wordpress/ which I followed to change the Settings in Reading from Front page displays Your latest posts (which it didn’t anyway) to Front page displays A static page, and I selected Home landing page (which i’m using) for the Front page, and for Posts page, I selected Blog. Boom! There are all the demo posts on the blog page!

BUT – the blog page is not formatted the way I want it. In the theme demo, there are three options: Blog with sidebar, Blog category, and Blog simple. I cannot for the life of me find where to change the layout from BLOG WITH SIDEBAR to BLOG CATEGORY. I even tried to create a whole new page and none of the blog pages are listed in the Template dropdown. I don’t see anything in Customize, either.

YET – the more I try to solve this, the more the sidebar is growing on me, with it’s search and tags and recent comments – good stuff – BUT how would I edit it??? E.g. I’ve completely changed my ABOUT ME page, yet the side bar ABOUT section still contains the demo data, and I don’t know what META DATA is in there for.

So, my questions are: How do I change the template for the blog page? and How do I edit the template content if I want to keep the sidebar?

    Thanks,
    John

    Hi,
You could search this forum using the search feature. We had already answered questions about the blog page.
    http://www.pixelwars.org/forums/topic/blog-last-posts/
Do you want to show the blog category? Go to appearance > menus > Select the category you want from the category on the left and click on the Add to the menu button. Then you can drag-and-drop it to the menu where you want it to appear.
If you want the blog page to appear with the sidebar, edit the blog page. On the right-hand side, you should see the sidebar box. Choose the sidebar and save it.
Go to appearance > widgets > blog sidebar > Here you can edit the content you want to show in the sidebar.

    Hi Serkan.

The Blog page appears on the menu – no issues there.
Appearance > Theme Options > Blog (from the other post) – that’s what I needed!
And Appearance > Widgets – Blog Sidebar to edit … perfect!

One (last??) little thing – in the sidebar, the content under Recent Posts, Recent Comments, and Archives is left-justified, but Categories is center-justified… can I change that? (Either left-justify Categories or center the others?)

    Thanks!!

Hi, We can look at this problem when the website is online. I can not say for sure without seeing the relevant url.
