I like the way things are left-aligned by default in first post, but once I open the blog main page everything is centered by default. I have learned to override this by left-aligning my text in my posts, but I was wondering if there is a way of left-aligning the blog’s main page by default, and how to do so.

There is not any easy solution for this. You should edit the page and choose the alignment for the blog.

I fixed it relatively easily:
Go to appearance –> customize –> custom css

copy the following into the box and save:

p {
text-align: left;
}
