When I use the contact form to send a message, no email is sent, and the Network devtools tab shows the POST /wp-content/themes/readme/send-mail.php fails with 403. How do I fix?

Hi,
You should contact your host and tell them to enable the mail() function.
As an alternative solution, you can use the ninja form plugin or contact form 7 plugin instead of the default contact form. It should be work for you.
