How do I “use” the “Featured Image area”? I want to have it appear on my Homepage “Page” – taking up the full-width like the demos. I made changes to Appearance > Widgets and adding the requirements: main slider, link box widget and etc. But don’t know what to do after.

Hi, You should add all of them to blog featured area (if your homepage is blog) or to page featured area (if your home is a page) and choose width 100% for the main slider and choose 25% width if you have 4 link boxes.
Please go to appearance > customize > featured area > you can set featured area width from here .
