Is there a way to use .gif in the featured image?

I read something;
To ensure that your uploaded gifs are displayed as uploaded (without any processing), you need to modify the_post_thumbnail() in your theme templates to instead read the_post_thumbnail( ‘full’ ). This will instead use the original image with no processing whatsoever.

Can you custom css this?

I just tested to use .gif in the featured image in our demo website and its working very well. I didn’t use any custom css code, i just uploaded a .gif file and it was working.
