Hello. I have been using ReadMe for my personal site since early last year. I love it. However, in the last day or so, I noticed that the shortcode powering parts of the home page are no longer working properly…

As you can see, the image code appears in full text and the scrolling text is now off center.
I made no changes or updates to the theme, admin or page that would have made this happen. It seemingly happened out of nowhere…
Here’s a grab of the code in my page file: http://cl.ly/3j0C2m093t0Y
Any idea why? And, how to fix this?
Hi mattcerrone,
We will solve your issue don’ worry. First of all deactivate all your plugin and up-to-date your theme to the latest and check it again. Well you don’t need to use the center feature for the intro shortcode because it will automatically display on the center.
ThanksIf I update my theme, will it overwrite any style changes that I’ve made?
Please deactivate the theme and delete it and download the latest readme version theme. And don’t worry you won’t loose any of your data.
ThanksBut, I think some of the changes were made to the theme files, so won’t they get overwritten by the new upload?
Hi mattcerrone,
If you change the theme files, they will get overwritten by the new upload. Why you didn’t create a child theme. A child theme is a theme that inherits the functionality and styling of another theme, called the parent theme. Child themes are the recommended way of modifying an existing theme.
https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_ThemesHi Serkan!
I am currently using the single image landing page and have inserted a shortcode on that homepage which is an ‘ENTER’ button. Is it possible to put this button right in the middle of the page? I noticed if I use different devices to view the site it appears on different levels (either too high or too low). Also, I noticed that if you press this button it opens a new tab or window.. is it possible to simply just enter without opening another window?
Thank you,
Amanda
