I have a problem uploading heavy weight images (more than 1mb). I receive an HTTP error, while can successfully uploading smaller weight images (around 100kb).

For example, I want to add a full-width image on the homepage, but wordpress won’t let me upload it.

Do you have a clue how to go over the problem?

You can try to use default to gd plugin. Donwload and upload to plugin page.
