Hi,

1) I am using custom css to get rid of the slider wrap. However, the wrap from the link-boxes is also gone – although it is still there when editing in the customize window. But it is gone on the actual site.

2) How do I change the font size of my post titles when on the page (the one that appears over the featured photo).

1)I could not quite understand what do you want to do and what is custom css code you used.
If you would like to remove the slider, you should go to widget > featured area and remove the slider.
2) Please go to appearance > customize > general > fonts > heading font size.
