Hi, just wondering if there’s a way for links in the body to show up in the “excerpt” on the homepage. For instance in my post “Of Some Value” at http://www.brianhammonds.com, the text is supposed to have a link at the words “this article”. The link only shows up once you click to go to the post itself: http://www.brianhammonds.com/2014/01/13/of-some-value/
(note: the 1 Timothy 4:8 isn’t really a link, it’s a plugin called Reftagger. It shows up in the excerpt, while links are not showing up.)
Is there not a way to simply enable links to show up in excerpts on any post format? The solution offered is helpful, but enabling links in all excerpts would be awesome. Thanks for your help!
Or if links showing up in all excerpted formats isn’t an option, perhaps the ability to choose on the theme options which formats show up as excerpts (i.e., making it an option to choose multiple formats as excerpts, but not necessarily all.)
I did this by turning off the “excerpt” functionality and just manually adding in the “more” tag
where I wanted each post to cut off. If you already have lots of posts, this may not work, but I was starting my blog from scratch, so I didn’t have any previous posts to go back and edit.
Has more or different excerpt functionality been added to the Bloggy theme since this discussion?
Plugins like Advanced Excerpt seem to have other unintended consequences, like making the social share icons at the bottom of my posts disappear. And when I manually insert the “Read More” tag in the post editor, for some reason it makes no difference in how the excerpt appears.
