Hi! I downloaded the Ikonik theme and pulled all of the placeholder information as well. I’ve been editing the website and noticed that when I view in incognito (and when clearing cache), my layout looks different than the default. For example, my Resume page and my About page seem to be in one column instead of two separate columns. For the Resume page, the Skills bars should be on the righthand side, however, the Job Description and Education takes up full width. This is a reocurring issue for a few pages on my site. I was wondering who could help with formatting it back to the default layout.
Thanks!
Michael B.Hi Michael,
If you like i can import a fresh copy of the theme for you. Could you please provide me your wp admin details via our private content box below?
ThanksHey Serkan,
Sure thing! I imported all the demo information originally, but after deleting some of the content, it looks like a lot of it is now a single column layout (for example my About page). I’ll provide you the credentials in the private content box below.
Thanks!
Michael BHi,
It doesn’t allow me to install a fresh copy of the theme. Well, can you deactivate your third party plugins, clear your cache and try it again? I guess one of your plugin is ocnflicting with the theme.
Please keep me updated
ThanksHey Serkan,
I installed the WP Optimize plugin to help clear cache, but when I tried to run the cache, I got this error:
The request to write the file /srv/htdocs/wp-content/advanced-cache.php failed. Please check file and directory permissions on the file paths up to this point, and your PHP error log.
1. Please navigate, via FTP, to the folder – /srv/htdocs/wp-content
2. Edit or create a file with the name advanced-cache.php
3. Copy and paste the following lines into the file:On another note, I’m now getting the “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.” when trying to edit my Resume page.
What do you recommend next steps be for these? I don’t mind starting over, but I’m worried I’ll run into the same issues in the future.
Thanks!
Michael BHi Michael,
Could you please contact to wp optimize plugin’s author related to the issue?
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wp-optimize/
I would recommend you to change your hosting company. Normally we don’t have any issues. You can delete whole content via wp reset plugin. Only install theme plugins then run the one click demo import plugin once and you suppose to install the theme content without any issue. I tried to do it but the role of the user which you provide me doesn’t allow me to do that.
ThanksThanks Serkan. I’ll follow these steps. Are there any hosting companies you recommend I switch to?
Thanks,
Michael BHi, we recommend a2hosting, (especially turbo plans, they are really fast.)
https://www.a2hosting.com/wordpress-hosting
Have a nice day!
Okay appreciate it! And sorry if this sounds confusing or if it’s a dumb question, but does that mean I can cancel my WordPress.com Pro site plan? I know I’ve got a domain registration from WordPress that renews every year but wanted to make sure that a2hosting would replace the other WordPress renewal cost (site plan).
Thanks!
Michael B.Hi Michael,
Domain and hosting are different concepts. You can contact the competitor company and ask if you can get help with the transfer process. Many companies offer support for hosting transfer from one to another.
ThanksHey Serkan,
I contacted a2hosting and they said they were unable to migrate my website since it’s being hosted on WordPress.com and will run into proprietary issues. What other solutions do you recommend I take? I’m still seeing a bunch of layout and alignment issues on the site (still on WordPress).
Thanks,
Michael B.Hi Michael,
Just in case, I will forward your topic to our developer. And I will keep you updated.
ThanksAppreciate it, Serkan. I’d like to get my site up sooner rather than later. Please keep me posted.
Thanks again!
Michael B.Hi, I have just navigated to Page Optimize Settings and unchecked these options;
Concatenate scripts
Concatenate stylesand it seems to be working fine now.
Hey Ahmetsali,
Thanks so much! Any reason why that is causing an issue? I’m sure it’s really technical but curious as to why that would be an issue with styling?
Also, thanks Serkan for pointing the issue to the right person!
Thanks,
Michael B.I also noticed a couple more things. Should I open another ticket or continue on with this one?
– The About Me page won’t load images that I’ve uploaded
– My Resume page takes forever to load. Any reason behind that? Every other page loads up quickly, but my Resume page seems to take a pretty long time. Thanks!
Michael B.Hey y’all,
Following up on this ticket. The only issues I’m seeing now are:
– Resume page takes a very long time to load. All other pages are quick and responsive
– Images don’t populate for my About and Portfolio pagesThanks!
Michael BarnettHi,
Could you please check out the gmetrix test please?
https://gtmetrix.com/reports/michaelbar.net/jsTSwaDX/
There are some recommendetation about the page speed.
Keep me updated.
ThanksHey Serkan,
I reviewed the recommendations, and the only thing I can think of is to remove the svg images on my resume. I replaced the Skill Bars with a line of an image and text, but other than that, everything else is pulled from the default demo import. Do you see anything else that could be causing a 7 second load speed? All my other pages load up instantly.\
As far as the images go, do we know why any photo I add on the About Me or Portfolio pages don’t show up?
Thanks!
Michael B.Hi, we recommend two plugins for dramatically improving your page load speed.
1-) Optimole optimizes all the images and serves them over cdn to gain faster image loads;
https://wordpress.org/plugins/optimole-wp/
2-) W3 Total Cache for caching, remember to activate database cache, browser cache and minify.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/w3-total-cache/
Thanks
Serkan,
I downloaded Optimole. I’ve tried downloading W3 Total Cache but it says that plugin is incompatible with WordPress.
My Resume page is the only page that takes a long time loading. I tried removing the icons on the right side but kept getting a “Server Error (500)” error code.
Also, the images on my About and Portfolio pages still aren’t loading properly.
These are the only two issues I need resolved.
Thanks,
Michael B.Hi Michael,
I will forward this topic to our developer and I will keep you updated.
ThanksHi, there is something wrong with your WordPress installation, when I navigate to Pages > All Pages from the side menu, I can’t see the published page list, it always say “Loading a page of Pages…” and nothing, please contact wordpress.com support about it or consider switching your hosting provider.
Cheers.
Thanks Ahmetsali. I’ll contact WordPress support and see what they say. I will keep y’all posted on what information they give.
Thanks,
Michael B.The images are now displaying on my end. So we can mark that as resolved! :)
The Resume page still takes awhile to load. I tried connecting with WordPress support but they said the pages load up fine on their end on Pages. When I search for Resume on Pages, I can find the page and edit it, however, when I try to save, I get a Service Error 500. This is the last issue I’ll need help resolving before I’m officially good to go!
Thanks,
Michael BarnettHi again, “Service Error 500” it seems like a server error, can you please ask this issue to your hosting provider and lets see what they say.
Hey Ahmetsali,
I contacted WordPress support. They recommended that we check the Resume page again. This time, view the Pages page via Classic view so you won’t get a time out. Here’s the direct link to Classic view:
“link moved to private content”
The Resume page is loading quickly when you switch to a default WordPress theme. The time out on Pages was caused by the Resume page. You can test switching the Resume page to draft. We have also tried disabling all plugins except Elementor, Elementor Pro and Pixelwars Core. We also cleared the site’s cache and did all the troubleshooting steps shared by Elementor.
Hi,
We tried to login your panel but getting this error message.
“We couldn’t find your account. If you already have an account, make sure you have connected to WordPress.com.”
Please keep us updated.Hey Serkan,
I’ve attached my username and password in the private content section. I can also give temporary access if you supply me an email to use. Either works for me. Let me know.
Thanks!
Michael B.
