I am encountering a HTTP error too. When I upload images they simply throw out an error message. I have read through all media related topics and found nothing works to resolve the problem. I have cleared cache and cookies and also restarted my computer, cleared the thrash, updated my version of photographer.

Question 2: Is there any way to completely start over in wordpress? delete any and all saved data and reupload the theme etc.?

You can export your file via this plugin and delete everything. When you upload a fresh copy of wordpress and theme, you can upload all your saved data files. Please download the latest version of the theme.
