I updated plugins and made change to my site. Now 2 pages aren’t working: recipes and a shop page (images, buttons with links; not woo commerce).
Hi,
Thanks for the details. I checked your site and found the causes of both issues.
1) Elementor Pro keeps loading:
Your site is running Efor 6.0.5 (October 2020) together with the JetElements and JetPopup versions that came with it. Those 2020 versions don’t work with the current Elementor (4.3) and Elementor Pro, which is why the editor never finishes loading while they are active. IconPress Lite is no longer maintained, and Efor hasn’t needed it since 2022.
To fix it:
– Take a full backup first (SiteGround > Site Tools > Security > Backups).
– Download the latest Efor (13.3.0) from your ThemeForest Downloads page (“Installable WordPress file only”).
– Go to Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme, upload efor.zip and click “Replace current with uploaded”. Your Customizer settings will be kept. (If you edited any theme files directly, those edits will be overwritten.)
– Go to Appearance > Install Theme Plugins and update the plugins that show an update (JetElements, JetPopup, Pixelwars Core).
– Deactivate and delete IconPress Lite. If some icons on your pages came from IconPress, re-select them from Elementor’s own icon library.
– Activate JetElements and JetPopup again.
We tested the current Elementor with the JetElements and JetPopup versions included in Efor 13.3.0, and the editor loads normally.
2) “No products were found matching your selection.” on the Shop page:
WooCommerce is active on your site. As long as it’s active, the /shop/ address belongs to WooCommerce’s product list, so any page with the “shop” URL is replaced by that list. Since there are no WooCommerce products, you see this message. It isn’t caused by your page content.
Choose one:
– If you don’t use WooCommerce: go to Plugins and deactivate WooCommerce. Your Shop page will show again.
– If you want to keep WooCommerce: create an empty page (e.g. “Products”), then go to WooCommerce > Settings > Products and select that page as the “Shop page”. Save, then go to Settings > Permalinks and click “Save Changes”.
3) Recipes page:
The /recipes/ address currently shows “Page not found” because the page was deleted. Please check Pages > Trash. WordPress keeps deleted pages for 30 days, so you can restore your original Recipes page (and the original Shop page, if you prefer it) with its content. Restored pages come back as drafts, so click Publish afterwards. If you restore the old Shop page, move the new one to the Trash first so the old one gets the /shop/ address back. If these pages were built with JetElements widgets, they will look empty while JetElements is deactivated, so please do this after step 1.
After these changes, please clear the SiteGround cache (Purge SG Cache).
Best regards,
Mehmet
Pixelwars SupportHi Mehmet,
Ok, good news…the websit is working again! Thank you for your clear step-by-step instructions. The only thing that looks different (not in a good way) is my logo on the home page. It’s not as big as it once was and it now has poor resolution. How can I fix this?
So, does this mean that each time I get an email saying that Efor has a new update, that I need to repeat this process? Of downloading the theme and replacing it with the old one of the site?
Also, I am getting some warnings on plugins:
– I have duplicate SEO plugins active. Siteground is recommending that I have only one. Which do you recommend? All in One SEO or Yoast SEO?
– Speed Optimizer. Duplicate functionality with Really Simple SSL. Which do you recommend I keep?
– Do I need to install WPConsent when I already have Termly – GDPR/CCPA Cookie Consent Banner activated?
– LMS Conflict Detected. 2 LMS plugins are active at the same time (Tutor + Learnpress) I need to deactivate one of them. Not sure what these are for.
– I see 3 JetElements For Elementor. 2 with version 2.4.0 and one with 2.9.2.3. Currently I have version 2.9.2.3 activated and the other 2 deactivated. Can I delete the deactivated ones 2.4.0. I’m trying to clean things up a bit.
– How do I get back my social icons in the top right corner and remove the shopping bag? Thanks,
Marissa
Hi Marissa,
Great to hear your site is working again! Here are the answers to your questions:
1) Logo:
Your current logo file is only 500 x 112 px (the original image from 2020 is 500 x 500 px). The theme shows the logo at most at its real size, so it can’t get bigger than that, and on high-resolution screens a small image looks soft.
To fix it, upload a larger version of your logo (a PNG around 1500 px wide works well):
– Go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity and click “Change logo”.
– Upload the new file and click “Skip Cropping”.
– Set “Image Logo Height (px)” in the same panel to the size you like, then click Publish.
If you don’t have a larger file, please export a high-resolution version from the tool your logo was made with (or ask your designer).
2) Theme updates:
You don’t need to update every time you get an email, but it’s a good idea to update from time to time, especially after big WordPress or Elementor updates. The steps are the same: upload efor.zip and click “Replace installed with uploaded”, then update the theme plugins under Appearance > Install Theme Plugins.
If you prefer one-click updates, you can use the free Envato Market plugin. Theme updates will then appear under Dashboard > Updates. Both ways are explained step by step in our documentation:
https://docs.pixelwars.org/efor.php#update
3) Plugin warnings:
These plugins aren’t part of the theme, but here are my suggestions:
– SEO: Both All in One SEO and Yoast SEO are currently adding SEO tags to your pages, so you have duplicates. Both are good plugins. Keep the one you’ve been using to write your SEO titles and descriptions, and deactivate the other one.
– Speed Optimizer / Really Simple SSL: Speed Optimizer is SiteGround’s own plugin and can also handle HTTPS. Turn on “HTTPS Enforce” in Speed Optimizer > Environment, then deactivate Really Simple SSL and check that your site still opens with
https://– WPConsent: No, one cookie consent plugin is enough. Note: I couldn’t see the Termly banner loading on your homepage, so please check in the Termly plugin settings that your account is connected and the banner is enabled.
– LMS conflict: Tutor LMS and LearnPress are plugins for selling online courses. Your site doesn’t use courses (Tutor LMS has none, and the LearnPress courses look like the sample courses from the demo import). If you don’t plan to offer courses, deactivate both and the warning will go away. LearnPress also re-created a few pages today (Courses, Profile, Checkout, Instructors, Instructor, Become an Instructor). After deactivating LearnPress, you can move those pages to the Trash.
– JetElements: Yes, you can delete the two deactivated 2.4.0 copies. Keep the active 2.9.2.3 one.
4) Social icons and shopping bag:
– Social icons: Go to Appearance > Widgets. First check the “Inactive Widgets” section at the bottom. If your old icons are there, drag them into the “Header Social Media Icons” area. Otherwise, add a “(Pixelwars) Social Media Icon” widget to that area for each icon (choose the icon and enter your profile URL). The Pixelwars Core plugin needs to be active for this widget. More details:
https://docs.pixelwars.org/efor.php#widgets
– Shopping bag: It appears automatically while WooCommerce is active. Since you don’t use WooCommerce, you can deactivate it, and your Shop page will keep working. If you’d like to keep WooCommerce, add this to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS:
.site-header .shopping-cart { display: none; }After these changes, please clear the SiteGround cache (Purge SG Cache).
Best regards,
Mehmet
Pixelwars SupportHi Mehmet,
Thank you!!! I made the changes and everything looks great! You made that look easy!
I looked at Termly banner settings. I checked “enable auto blocker,” is that what you’re referring to? I refreshed the website and I still don’t see the banner pop up.
I am going to keep the shopping cart in the top right hand corner cause I am planning on creating digital products to sell on my website. When I do that, will I be able to add them to my shop page or will I run into issues…them needing to be on the “products” page? This will be a few weeks – months out from now.
Marissa
Hi Marissa,
You’re welcome, glad everything looks great now!
1) Termly banner:
“Enable auto blocker” is a different setting. It blocks tracking cookies until the visitor gives consent, but it doesn’t turn the banner on. The banner has its own switch:
– Open any Termly page in your dashboard. On the right side, you’ll see a “Consent banner” switch. Turn it on.
– If the switch is greyed out, your Termly account isn’t connected yet. Connect it with your Termly API key first.
– Then clear the SiteGround cache (Purge SG Cache) and check your site in a private browser window.
You can change the banner’s look and text in your Termly account (Banner Settings).
2) Selling digital products:
Yes, that will work fine. Your Shop page can stay as it is, and you can show your products on it with Elementor Pro’s “Products” widget (or link to them with buttons). WooCommerce’s own list of all products will be on your “Products” page.
When you’re ready to start, here’s what to set up:
– Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Products and check which page is selected as “Shop page”. Right now that page doesn’t open (it looks like it’s still a draft), so please publish it.
– Go to WooCommerce > Status > Tools and click “Create pages” next to “Create default WooCommerce pages”. This creates the Cart, Checkout and My account pages. Your cart icon will then link to the Cart page. Right now it links to your homepage because there’s no Cart page yet.
– When you add a product (Products > Add New), check “Virtual” and “Downloadable” and upload your file.
– Set up a payment method under WooCommerce > Settings > Payments.
The WooCommerce section of our documentation also lists the theme’s shop settings and links to WooCommerce’s own guides:
https://docs.pixelwars.org/efor.php#woocommerce
3) Smooth scrolling:
I also noticed that scrolling with the mouse wheel isn’t smooth on your site. This comes from the theme’s “Smooth Scroll” option, which is turned on. We recommend turning it off:
– Go to Appearance > Customize > General > Layout.
– Set “Smooth Scroll” to “No” and click Publish.
– Clear the SiteGround cache (Purge SG Cache).
Best regards,
Mehmet
Pixelwars SupportHi Mehmet,
Thank you and I really appreciate the advice on how to set up WooCommerce once I’m ready for it.
I was able to turn off smooth scrolling and find consent banner on Termly. I kept the the box for “enable auto blocker” checked (termly > banner settings > enable auto blocker) in addition to turning on the switch for the consent banner. Please let me know if I need to uncheck the “enable auto blocker” box.
Thank you,
Marissa
Hi Marissa,
You’re welcome! No, please keep “Enable auto blocker” checked. It works together with the consent banner: it holds tracking scripts until a visitor accepts cookies. I checked your site and it’s working as expected. For example, Google Analytics now waits for the visitor’s consent. I also see that smooth scrolling is now off.
Two things you may notice because of the auto blocker, and both are normal:
– Your Google Analytics numbers may be lower than before, because visitors who don’t accept cookies aren’t counted.
– Some embedded content (like videos or social media feeds) may only appear after a visitor accepts cookies.
Best regards,
Mehmet
