    I had to deactivate all plugins, load the theme, and then reactivate the plugins one by one. I did not find an individual conflict and they seem to be working. The theme could be activated successfully with the plugins all deactivated. Whew!

    Wordpress 4.3.1 installed
    I have tried activation after using theme uploader and when the theme is loaded via FTP.
