Thank you. Your pointers helped! In case others are reading this, it wasn’t 100% right, it was under:
Appearance > widgets > All Courses > remove the widget
The second part was already like that.

Yes.. and now everyone can see the view count again. This has not worked.

So..
1. Deactivate plugins. This is fine the view count disappears. Counting stops.
2. Reactivate plugin. View count reappears and settings as they wee before they were deactivated.Obviously it would be good to see these in Admin view or to know that they are being recorded.
Is there not a way to just switch off viewing these for non-admins?
