Nevermind on the homepage part, I figured it out.
For anyone else that runs into this issue in the future, you can set the homepage featured image by clicking the “Add Media” button, and in the left column select the “Featured Image” option.

I reuploaded following your instructions exactly with no luck. The images still expand beyond the native resolution.
In the post editor the images look right, which leads me to believe it may be something related to the CSS code. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the response. Can you please clarify your instructions?I uploaded the images with different resolutions/messed with the align options, and that did help with the blurriness, but it seems the theme automatically blows the images up to 100% page width.
How can I go about locking the image to the original image dimensions so it doesn’t resize for different screens?
