I installed the update and it’s working fine now, thanks!
Great, and you’re welcome!
Hmm, still having trouble. I was using v 1.2, just upgraded to 1.2.4. Also, just disabled all plugins.
I just made a new post with quote shortcode, and using quote format. Excerpt is not working.
In theme options I have “yes” for blog excerpts.
Blog index page: http://www.piccoach.com/tips-tuts/ (new post is Orson Welles quote, upper left).
Here’s the post content:
I passionately hate the thought of being ‘with it.’ I think an artist has always to be out of step with his time.
And in the excerpt box:
an artist has always to be out of step with his time. — Orson WellesOK thanks. Would be nice in a future update to have Quote post format work with excerpts.
“If excerpt does work with the quote shortcode, please keep quote format.”
For me excerpt does work with the quote shortcode, but does not work with quote post format (even if I don’t use the quote shortcode).
Excerpt does work with the quote shortcode, but not with the quote format (just in case I didn’t make that clear).
I removed the shortcode, which didn’t work, but changing the post format type to “standard” instead of “quote” fixed the issue. Thanks for the replies.
ETA: hmm, I just realized I’d really like to keep the quote format, I like the way that looks. But for me it seems that the excerpt function doesn’t work when quote format is selected.
Yes, I’m using the quote shortcode:
"I would die if I had to be confined. I don't want to feel that I'm missing out on experiencing as much as I can. For me, experiencing is knowing people all over the world and being able to photograph."
This is what’s in the excerpt field:
For me, experiencing is knowing people all over the world and being able to photograph.
OK, I have “yes” selected for: theme options: blog: excerpt. I’m not using the “more” tag. Here’s my blog index: http://www.piccoach.com/tips-tuts/
“I would die if I had to be confined.” is showing the full quote on the blog index page, but in the excerpt field for that post, I have: “For me, experiencing is knowing people all over the world and being able to photograph.”
I would prefer not to use the “more” tag; I would like to specify excerpts per post.
I’m using the Quote format, and have part of the quote in the excerpt field. But on the blog index page, the full quote shows, not just the excerpt.
I’m having trouble getting more than 3 testimonials on one row–any suggestions?
That helps, thanks.
I don’t see the empty tags…
Here’s the code again, pasted from the “text” tab (not the visual tab):
Pic Coach
[intro]Friendly, expert help with: [rotate_words titles=”shooting better portraits, taking better pictures with your smartphone, improving your portraits, deciding which camera to buy, setting up a home studio, making flash pictures look great “]
[intro image=”http://www.piccoach.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/jn-bw-600px-original.jpg”%5DOne-to-one photography training and workshops,
in Los Angeles and beyond
[/intro]The centering is much better, and I like having the rotated text on a new line, but I’m still getting extra vertical space–is there a way to get rid of that? I’m trying to avoid extra whitespace in the intro (top intro); would like to have spacing similar to the second intro on this page:

That helps, thanks.
That would be great, thanks.
It’s working now thanks–I overlooked selecting “page with sidebar” template.
That works, thanks.
Hmm, that takes care of the nav issue, but now the list is really wide–full width…any suggestions on how to keep the list at bottom the same width as paragraph above? I have them both in tags now.

I just reduced the column width from 7 to 5, and it’s now displaying side by side, so I’m all set; sorry for the bother.
Scroll down at that home page.
Thanks for the reply…my site isn’t public yet, I’m using the Under Construction plugin to keep it hidden while I’m putting it together. Also I’m probably going to use Readme’s portfolio feature instead of blog posts for my site…so I’m fine for now.
