Hi, this is my URL: http://shumsky.info/?department=teaser
As you can see, the featured images are cropped at their middle. Having a control over this cropping would be nice, especially that I think the functionality is there in WordPress already.
    Thank you!

that is understandable, but I use one of my regular images, that are cropped to a different resolution. My thought is it would be handy to have this cropping functionality within the theme. Your way I would have to download the image, edit it, and upload another copy of it. A real hassle if you have to do it for a dozen thumbnails. Its a photographer theme, right?

    Hi @serkan,
thank you for the info! It works, but it lightens all the tiles at once. A much nicer visual effect would be to lighten the tiles that have recently changed/rotated, and keep the light color for several seconds, then turn them back dark.

I can also confirm that the buttons and arrows are visible OK in your theme demo, but on my website I do not see them. Tested on my Retina iMac.

I have update on this issue: it really does happen on Retina iMac: I have reinstalled the Yosemite mac OS from scratch, and still the buttons do not show, however if you hover mouse over the spots where they must be, the mouse cursor changes and you can press the button, but the visible button shape and text is missing. I guess it has something to do with the video driver, screen resolution, etc.
This issue DOES NOT happen on regular iMac, or any other mac (I guess).
So it is restricted to Retina iMac with 5K resolution. Another point is that I used to see the buttons on my Retina iMac, before the last OS update, which also included video drivers optimisation.

also I must add that the “walking dots” animated gif that is supposed to tell the user that something is loading DOES not show untill all the thumbnails show in my example gallery above. Tested in Safari 8.0.6 Yosemite Mac OS.

Here is the sample gallery that contains 250 pictures and it takes very long time for thumbnails to load.

I am sorry, you are right. I checked on another computer, and it is working as expected.
What is perplexing is that on my main imac I tested in 3 (!) different browsers, and the buttons are not displayed. It is still not working on my main computer, very strange.

It is not showing in either Safari or Firefox under Mac OS Yosemite, all updates installed.

that is a workaround, not a proper fix. I need full-size images in my galleries in the 1st place. And the thumbnail view should load thumbnails, not full-sized images!

I think you should change this and make it a user selectable option. anyhow, it is not good that currently you have the comments option in the backend control panel for portfolio posts, and it is not working.

http://shumsky.info/?p=13365 this is a sample gallery (standard wordpress gallery, standard post), it loads all images at the thumbnail view.
Any ideas why it does that?

What really makes sense is to make ALL options for gallery display available to users, REGARDLESS of where the gallery is used, instead of introducing artificial limitations. LET THE USERS themselves decide which effect they want to apply, and where.
That way you will keep ALL USERS happy by default, it’s a no-brainer!

you mean, in regular posts, don’t you? Otherwise you got me confused.
Why have you made such a limitation? if the functionality of full-screen gallery is there, why can’t we use it on any wordpress gallery in any post or page? Is there any special logic behind it?

regular posts (not portfolio) don’t have that option. I can change format of the post to “gallery”, but that does not help.
