I created a new department and called it “private”.
I removed all photos from the password protected portfolios and updated.
I permanently deleted all these client photos from the media library.
I changed the department for these client portfolios to the new one called “private” and updated.
I uploaded the photos back to the media library and added them to the already made password protected portfolios.
However, problem remains. Did I skip a step or did something wrong?

I think to add the file number into the caption of a thousand or more pictures and to repeat the same procedure for every client that needs this service would not be so practical.

Yes, that would be very helpful for a small number of images. But I am refering to a thousand or more images as for a wedding for example.
Would it be possible for the filenames of the photos to just appear?
