Just wondering if Mehmet’s post re: new version available, on this thread about clickable masonry images … does that mean, Bloggy v3.02 would have that feature included? Or no?

http://www.heymimi.comI’ve been wondering how to do this! At first, I added your custom code to the bottom of my custom css, and it did not work. So, I tried adding it to the top (above the existing custom css) and it worked!
Either I forgot to hit save after the first entry, or something in the long list of customizations override -ed the “no-category:xyz” entry.

I put an image in each post that encourages readers to comment. (Can’t say I’m getting many comments yet, unfortunately). It’s just a little banner that says “Comments” or ‘comments appreciated’ and then I link the image to #comments. When clicked, it jumps the reader down to the comment section of that page.
I just add it manually when I’m writing the post. I’m sure I could code it somewhere, but I haven’t bothered yet. You can see in action on most of my latest blog posts: http://www.heymimi.com

My youTube videos have continued to work through each update.
I guess it doesn’t make sense to make it apply to images on pages, because it would add rounded corners to every image, including design elements manually added to pages, such as headlines rows or a custom dropcap.
But I’m wondering if there is something I could add to the “styles” field in the “advanced settings” in the image edit box, to round the corners on just specific images? See this screenshot: http://grab.by/tleQ (The image in the screenshot is already rounded in photoshop).
What I’m trying to do is make a custom homepage that looks like a 2 column masonry page, with a sidebar. Here’s the layout, it’s not a live linked page, of course … but it’s just a mock-up : http://heymimi.com/main/ . Im trying to get masonry with a sidebar, basically. And I want those gosh-darn rounded corners! It’s not that big of a deal to manually round them in photoshop, but if there is an easier, more automated way … I thought it couldn’t hurt to ask!
Will this work with images inserted on pages? Or only posts?

Is there a way to remove just the DATE display, without removing the link to COMMENTS, or the EDIT button?
I was able to do it by editing the format-video.php file (since all my posts are video posts) but it didn’t remove the date from the single post pages.
I know this isn’t really a long-term solution, anyway, since it will get over-written in the next update. I need to learn how to make a child theme… but I just can’t wrap my head around child themes. Everytime I try, it never works! So, thank goodness for the custom css in Bloggy’s STYLE tab!
Yep. Seems to be working ok after disabling WP Page Navi plugin. I didn’t realize it was ever activated.
Is the “Visibility” button in sidebar widgets something new in Bloggy or WP? Or I just never noticed it before?
Ok, I think it has to do with a plugin called Page Navi. I think it automatically installed when I test drove the 2014 theme that came along with the latest WP 3.8 update. I deactivated it, and I think sidebars are working. I’ll let you know.
I’m also having sidebar issues on my contact page. The problem seems to coincide with either the recent WP update, or my installing the Bloggy 2.4 update.
When I went into the widget section to edit a custom sidebar, at first, a map image would not appear after saving. It wasn’t a functioning map, just an image.
When I went back in to try to troubleshoot the problem, my text widget still had my text and code in it, but was not appearing on the page. I noticed something new on the widget, a button called “visibility” that I hadn’t ever noticed before. I clicked it and chose a “page” option, clicked save. When I went to view the page, the sidebar content was still not appearing … But this time, when I returned to check my widget content for errors, the content was gone! Not sure if it’s gone forever, but the code in my widget has disappeared.

Hi Waldorf, I found the same thing happening, when it wasn’t a problem before. I’m not sure if it’s a setting that I made, or something in the update … But I noticed the featured images on my homepage loading very slowly. When I right-clicked the featured image, to ‘view image,” I discovered that they were the full size images, not the resized (600 pixel) downsized ones.
I’ve been uploading the full size image into wp, and then editing them within the wordpress media screen – save – and then “update” – refresh – save as featured image. It seem to be working, but then suddenly no longer was replacing with the resized, smaller file sized, image.
To solve the problem, I just resize the image to 600 pixels before I upload it now. That seems to have worked. My homepage loads quickly again.

Thank you for the code! Then I would I use HR html tag or a divider shortcode in the post? Do I need to tell it to repeat? Or that is automatic?
(sorry, I know it’s not your job to teach me css. just thought I’d give it shot, while I was asking about the shortcode/HR question). :-)No problem. It was fresh in mind, because I just added a contact form to my site today!
If you are using the “add contact form” button (next to the “add media” button) in the text editor (when writing a post), … it’s easy to overlook that there is a second tab in that pop-up screen. It’s to the right of the tab called “form builder”, look to the right of that title and you will see a tab heading called “Email Notifications.” Click that, and you can add in your email address there.
Thought I would add in my 2 cents here. I’ve controlled the use of the sidebar in 2 ways:
1. I’ve made a custom sidebar for the page I’m working on, and then used the sidebar as a ‘column’ basically, when I didn’t like the way the layout worked on a full page/no sidebar layout.
For example in my “About Me” page, I just made a custom “contact page sidebar” and put a map image in a text widget, and a contact form widget.” You can put pretty much anything you want in a text widget, and just use that big sidebar as part of your page layout.2. Make your page layout (PAGE ATTRIBUTES box in the screen where you are creating your page) a full width page (no side bar) layout. Then, just use the grid layout to control what shows up in far left column of your grid.

No reply? I can’t be the only one wonder about this! Sheesh.
I might as well share how it went for me. Since I’ve only recently started modifying the theme, I thought I would just live dangerously and upload the updated theme, without renaming anything.
1. FIRST, however, I did at least copy my custom css (from the style tab in theme options) and paste it into a notes document… for just a little bit of insurance.
2. Then I went to THEMES – and uploaded the new theme zip file.
3. I looked at the preview, which looked ok, crossed my fingers, held my breathe, clicked ACTIVATE.4. Breathed a sigh of relief, when I checked my site and all looked well. It did seem to overwrite the previous version, because I don’t see two Bloggy themes on the THEMES screen.
All of my edits seemed to carryover automatically.I don’t see a whole lot that has changed, really, (maybe because I had already made several minor fixes in the custom CSS). But I do really, REALLY like the way the navigation bar scrolls down for the first few inches. That’s really cool! Did it do that before and I didn’t notice?

I just used the code Ahmetsali provided in the LEFT-MARGINS thread and it worked like a charm.
Here’s what I did:
1. Went here: CSS Color Names and picked up the hex# for the color I liked.
2. Then I pasted the code from this post:

into the custom CSS in the Theme Options part of Bloggy Theme Options, not the WordPress Theme Customizer thing.
Just added the custom code for link color, and it works fine. My text and button links like “continue reading” are now a nice teal color (hex ##008080) on hover. I double checked it in Firefox and Chrome browsers.I added the code Ahmetsali provided into the “Theme Options” – clicked “Style” tab – and added the code to to the “Custom CSS” field down near the bottom of that screen. Then I changed the color codes from green to the color I wanted on hover ( Teal: #008080). and clicked “Save.”
I think I’ll post my other thoughts on color customization in a different thread, since this thread is called ‘MARGINS.”

Since there is no “excerpt” option, the ‘more’ is the alternative. Wish it worked better.I’ll reply to myself: I’ve found that any image size seems to work in the header, so far. Just limited to how much real estate I want to take up before visitors can see the content.
So far, I’m going with approx 600 pixels wide for the featured images and that is working out pretty well. Front page is loading quickly now.
