Hi, It is not possible to select photos only from the specific department. If you don’t add the photowall shortcode, You images will come from the gallery which you inserted in the page. If you have the photowall shortcode, photos will come from portfolio. You can choose the photos you want to show by creating a gallery inside the home page.
If you are not using the shortcode so you should create a gallery in your homepage and upload your pictures there.
You should have about 40 pics minimum. So I would recommend you to use alternate homepage or other ones unless you have enough pictures then you can try to use photowall homepage.

If you want the blog page to appear with the sidebar, edit the blog page. On the right-hand side, you should see the sidebar box. Choose the sidebar and save it.
Go to appearance > widgets > blog sidebar > Here you can edit the content you want to show in the sidebar.

Edit your home page and click once on the photo. There will also be a bar in which the edit is available. When you click to edit button, the section with the image details will be opened. Under the display settings, choose size large instead of medium and save it.
