Appearance > theme options > main slider > activate yes- exclude sticky posts from blog.
Settings > reading > Blog pages show at most : if you set 5; it will show 5 blog posts plus main slider posts. Manin slider posts won’t be count.

Please go to dashboard > widgets > and check the settings for empathy template page. Be sure that empathy home is set for homepage. Not custom page for homepage.

If you cannot make it, these custom css code will solve your issue as well.

Firstly, I would recommend you to contact your host service. Some host server’s emails go to spam. They are recommending extra spam filters.

Using smtp instead of default wordpress mail function might solve the spam problem;

I just uploaded bigger size photo with non-activate plugins. It was all deactivated. One of your third party plugin still holding the picture size up to 740px. When I deactivate all of them, didn’t see any problem to upload a picture.
